Kieran is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Search and Evaluation team, where he helps coordinate efforts in strategic planning at CDRD. This involves assessing new treatment approaches and opportunities within target disease areas, and searching for academic research projects with therapeutic and commercial potential to bring into the Centre for development.
Kieran holds a Master of Chemistry degree from the University of Oxford, UK, where he carried out research on the post-translational modification of proteins. He then completed a PhD at the University of Bristol, developing synthetic biomaterials for regenerative medicine as well as carrying out computational analysis of the interactions of biomolecules. This work was awarded a Springer Thesis prize and published as a book in 2018.
Recently, he moved to UBC in Vancouver to carry out postdoctoral research in protein engineering and enzymology. This involved collaboration with a local biotechnology start-up to develop new synthetic routes to their key biomedical product.
At CDRD, Kieran uses his scientific expertise while building his commercial awareness to help translate promising academic research into therapies with real benefits in healthcare.
