Dr. Fraser received his Ph.D. from the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Alberta and was the recipient of an MRC Centennial fellowship for the study of transcriptional mechanisms with Lasker award recipient Pierre Chambon, MD, IGBMC, France. With over ten years experience in large multinational and small pharmaceuticals, he has been project leader for drug discovery and development in cardiac arrhythmias, cancer, benign prostate hyperplasia and pain, and supported projects in hypertension, obesity, lipid and iron metabolism, gastrointestinal and urinary disorders and epilepsy. In his multiple leadership roles, Dr. Fraser has established and managed teams of high throughput screening, electrophysiology, in vivo pharmacology, ADME, DMPK and molecular and cellular biology. The high performance level of these teams resulted in the submission of multiple clinical candidates. He has lead teams in the GLP testing and cGMP manufacturing of clinical trial material and in preparing IND submissions. While at sanofi-aventis (formerly sanofi-synthelabo) Dr. Fraser lead teams in researching marketed compounds Alfusozin (Xatral) and Rimanobant (Acomplia), and was a scientific expert for the Aberelix clinical development team. He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed articles and is an inventor on 28 published patent applications. Prior to joining the CDRD, he was the Senior Director of Pharmacology at Neuromed Pharmaceuticals.
