Carmen Gervais oversees a suite of innovation networks that enable multi-sectoral, diverse disciplinary approaches to address problems, challenges or opportunities of importance to Canada.
Networks funded through the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) are incorporated, not-for-profit entities governed by a Board of Directors.
Before joining the NCE secretariat in 2016, Carmen spent four years in France as a Director with the International Human Frontier Science Program. Prior to that she was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Canada Excellence Research Chairs program. She has also managed the Canada Research Chairs program and has worked in a variety of positions at NSERC.
Carmen has 17 years of experience in the administration of research funding programs at Canadian and international granting agencies. She has worked in program design, science policy development, career development, risk management and evaluation. She has a Ph.D. in cell biology from Queen’s University and a Bachelor degree in molecular biology from Carleton University.
