Following a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (University of British Columbia) and post-doctoral training (Harvard University), Dr. Parr has spent over 10 years working directly in the biotechnology business, including 7 years at Biogen-Idec in Boston. Dr. Parr has worked intensely on technologies ranging from drug delivery systems, gene delivery, and protein therapeutics, covering several therapeutic areas including neurodegeneration, inflammation, and oncology. While at Biogen-Idec, he played central roles in bringing his project through research and into clinical trials, being an important member of several late stage development and translational medicine teams. He returned to Vancouver to work at Angiotech Pharmaceuticals for two years, guiding two late stage novel biomaterial-based drug products in oncology and pain indications toward IND submissions.
