Monday, September 26th was a big day for the team at Microdermics (www.microdermics.com). At the BCIC-New Ventures Competition the company took the $10,000 CDRD Life Sciences Prize and the $110,000 BCIC First Prize Package. The company led by Grant Campany is developing a painless solution for people who need to test their blood multiple times of day, or require medications and vaccinations. Their microneedle system could end people’s fear of needles by revolutionizing the drug-injection method and non-invasively monitoring drugs in the bloodstream.
As part of the CDRD Life Sciences Prize, Microdermics will receive up to 40 hours of business consulting (e.g. business case analysis/development, strategic partnering plan, or market forecast) from CDRD’s Commercialization Division.
In addition to working with academic partners to advance promising health research, CDRD works with Canadian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing scientific expertise, infrastructure and commercial support to advance innovative technologies and overcome challenges in getting their technologies to clinical trials.
