Project Funding

Grant facilitation

The Centre for Drug Research and Development offers support to investigators seeking grant funding for their CDRD-approved projects. In addition, CDRD can act as a partner on collaborative drug-discovery team grants where the inclusion of CDRD provides a pathway for the development and commercialization of any novel therapeutic entities that arise from the discovery program.

Grant facilitation activities range from providing letters of support to scientific, strategic, and editorial input.

Pfizer-CDRD Innovation Fund

The Pfizer-CDRD Innovation Fund supports investigators carrying out critical experiments in projects with commercialization potential that they would not be able to carry out on their own. The Innovation Fund, now totalling $3 million, has to date supported nine unique scientific opportunities with commercialization potential. The fund is administered by CDRD, which makes grants to projects based on the recommendation of an expert review panel. To be eligible for the fund, projects must first be CDRD approved.

Genome BC-CDRD Development Fund

The Genome BC–CDRD Development Fund was created to accelerate the development of commercially promising projects related to advances and discoveries stemming from genome sciences and genetics. Genome BC has earmarked $1 million toward the fund on a project-by-project basis. CDRD will contribute up to $1 million in expertise, facilities, and equipment time.
