These workshops are presented in 3 parts as follows.
Part I Provides a brief introduction to intellectual property, beginning with a discussion of “inventorship v. ownership”. Furthermore, material transfer agreements and good laboratory notebook practices as they relate to ownership are covered, along with an introduction to patentable subject matter.
Part III Focuses on various aspects of advocacy in the context of patent drafting, prosecution and enforcement. There will be a discussion of how and why the various parts of a patent application are written in a particular style; strategies for prosecution in various jurisdictions; and an introduction to the complexities of enforcement.
