Dr. Burt is the Angiotech Professor of Drug Delivery in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC. She obtained her B. Pharm.(Hons) in 1975 from the University of Bath, U.K. and her Ph.D in Pharmaceutics in 1980 from UBC. Her major research efforts involve the synthesis, characterization and evaluation of new biodegradable polymers as suitable biomaterials or vehicles for drugs and also in the design, development and evaluation of polymeric drug delivery systems for controlled/localized drug delivery and modulation of P-glycoprotein efflux transport activity. She was awarded the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award for Science, Research and Technology in 2000 and has published 90 peer-reviewed papers and several patents.
