Job Description
The Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) is an innovative organization that focuses on bridging the gap between academic discoveries in the health sciences and the development of new medicines to treat human diseases. With operational facilities located on the campuses of the University of British Columbia (UBC), Simon Fraser University (SFU), and the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA), CDRD has established a novel drug development platform. By working closely with Canadian academic researchers and the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology industry, CDRD provides a collaborative framework through which drug development can become sustainable, cost-effective, and advantageous to society.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Project Management, the Project Management Coordinator will assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of CDRD’s Project Management System including the database and the coordination of all project-related documents and information.
Responsibilities
- Ensures appropriate and timely filing and distribution of project-related information, both electronic and hard copy
- Maintains the project component of the CDRD database and intranet site
- Compiles and communicates project-related information to other CDRD business units (e.g. Finance, Business Development, Communications etc.)
- Creates and maintains CDRD project management document templates
- Assists in the development and documentation of project management procedures, including posting these procedures on the intranet and training new staff on Project Management basics.
- Prepares and distributes minutes from project and portfolio management meetings
- Participate in Administrative meetings
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- A related Post Secondary diploma and a minimum 3 years directly related experience, preferably in the health sciences related field
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to format large documents
- Previous experience in a project management environment an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Project (or similar) and Microsoft SharePoint (or similar) an asset
- Experience using relational databases
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing as appropriate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills
