Angus Livingstone is Managing Director of the University-Industry Liaison Office (UILO) at The University of British Columbia (UBC), and is President of the University's wholly owned subsidiary, UBC Research Enterprises Inc ., and co-founder and Chair of the Alliance for the Commercialization of Canadian Technology.
Angus serves on numerous boards including the Alliance for Commercialization of Canadian Technologies, UBC Research Enterprises, Inc., Drug Development Inc., and Webnames.CA, Inc. He is currently a member of the Association of University Technology Managers and the Licensing Executive Society.
Angus graduated from UBC with a B.Sc. in Computer Science in 1983. In 1988, he joined the UILO where he has held various positions relating to industry sponsored research, technology transfer, and the management of UILO operations. He has played critical roles in the creation of many Canadian technology transfer and ommercialization initiatives including: Westlink Technology Commercialization Internship Program; B.C. Advantage Funds (VCC) Ltd.; Flintbox™; Aggregate Therapeutics and the IP Toolkit; The Centre for Drug Research and Development; and the Canada California Strategic Innovation Partnership – IP Protocol.
The UILO conducts the technology transfer and commercialization activities at UBC. UBC consistently ranks among the top ten North American universities for its patenting and commercialization activities. UBC currently has over 250 licenses with companies around the world and has actively supported the creation of 130 spin-off companies.
